Analysis of forested landscapes

The course is divided into three modules, plus two regional excursions and a final case study assignment. The first module aims at learning how to analyse the landscape including landscape development and structure, landforms, buildings, and vegetation structures. The aim of the second module is to analyse the use of the landscape, including rules and regulations related to landscape use, The European Landscape Convention, user types, recreation types, user perception, experience and preferences, and stakeholder analysis – power/interest analysis. The third module deals with governing the landscape introducing management theory, definitions of leadership, management and maintenance, government/governance, and organisational structures related to forested landscapes.
