Climate Action Challenge

It is time to wrap-up this year´s climate action challenge. After a fruitful and very interesting course, the students are now about to finalize their different projects.
Four groups (19 students) are participating in the GCUA 2030 Climate Action Challenge 2025. The groups are wrapping up their video presentations and summary sheets to present their Nature-based solutions with the goal of mitigating climate change or the effects of climate change while targeting additional societal challenges in a specific geographic location and context. Students have been supported on this journey with training on intercultural working, intersectional perspectives, theory of change, and evaluating SDG trade-offs and synergies. Each group received feedback from the course leader and from 1-2 mentors from various universities and disciplines throughout the eight-week course.
An independent panel of judges from GCUA universities will evaluate each group’s video pitch and summary sheet to provide feedback and select a winning case study. The submissions will be judged on the quality of the Nature-based solution proposed, the self-assessment of trade-offs and synergies with other Sustainable Development Goals, and the quality of their communication in both presentation formats. Following the final evaluation, the videos will be made available to the GCUA, so that all members can be inspired by the ideas this year’s group of students have come up with.
Thank you to all the mentors and panelists who have volunteered their time to provide this unique educational opportunity.
