Global Challenges University Alliance, GCUA 2030, is a network of university partners from across the globe with a common vision of contributing to sustainable, global development. GCUA 2030 offers a global learning forum for PhD students and young researchers providing a range of learning and networking activities.

Webinar: Food security and the humanitarian-development-peace nexus

SLU Global and GCUA 2030 invite everyone interested to a climate conversation with emphasis on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace nexus.

Building food security against the growing global threat of climatic shocks, conflicts, and other crises calls for deeper understanding of these interacting drivers, as well as how best to align humanitarian and development goals for coordinated action.

The Humanitarian-Development-Peace nexus offers novel opportunities in this context, but to realize this potential will take dedicated inter-sectional research, dialogue, and partnerships.

Global leadership programme open for application

Leadership for Transformative Change is a programme designed for leaders in organisations in any societal sector working for societal transformation towards sustainability. The programme is built on co-creation, where the participants’ needs, ideas and challenges are important building blocks.

Successful collaborative research thanks to GCUA 2030

In 2021 SLU granted seed funding to four SLU researchers with the aim of stimulating collaborative research with GCUA 2030 partners. Here we report successful outcomes from a collaborative research project involving researchers at SLU, Makerere University, and Michigan State University, entitled  “Cancelled Agro-Investments, Smallholders’ Land Access and Sustainable Development in Rural East Africa”. 

GCUA 2030 Climate Action Challenge

GCUA 2030 Climate Action Challenge will develop the interdisciplinary teamwork skills and intercultural competence of the participants.

Mentorship programme

The mentorship programme will allow for cross-cultural exchange and learning between mentors and mentees, in depth dialogues on a range of aspects related to academic career development.

A global learning forum for sustainable development

The overall goal of GCUA 2030 is to enhance the capacity of its partners to contribute to Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through international collaboration. The network is funded by STINT 2021-2023. 

A key objective is to equip the next generation of researchers, teachers and academic leaders with knowledge, tools and networks that will strengthen their capacity to work across disciplines and to conduct translational research.

The network offers different types of learning activities designed to accommodate and be attractive to students from different educational systems.
