Christopher Raymond

Christopher Raymond
I am an Interdisciplinary Social Scientist who is passionate about developing new ways of engaging local communities in initiatives that support environmental sustainability and human well-being. This passion is reflected in my mission of Connecting People, Place and Prosperity.

Research

My three main research themes are:

1) Engaging local citizens in environmental planning using public participation GIS, among other stakeholder engagement techniques (People)

2) Fostering connections between people and place by identifying and assessing 'sense of place' and social cohesion (Place)

3) Understanding the linkages between place-based experiences and human well-being (Prosperity)

Cooperation

I am a Co-PI on a Swedish Research Council funded project that aims to Connect Diverse Knowledge Systems for Ecosystem Governance. We are working with project partners in Sweden, Thailand and Africa to identify ways of meaningfully combining multiple forms of knowledge as part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) assessment process.
