SusOrganic: Development of quality standards and optimized processing methods for organic produce

Funding: ERA-Net CORE Organic Plus, EU Project

SusOrganic project has three main objectives: (i) Quality standards and improved product quality will be established for organic foodstuffs preserved by drying and cooling/freezing, using selected types of organic food (fish, meat, fruits and vegetables). (ii) Processing guidelines, optimized processes and equipment, as well as environmental impact (LCA) and economic (LCCA) analysis: guidelines will be defined and developed for improved drying and chilling/freezing of organic food; (iii) Stakeholder engagement for effective implementation and dissemination of results and training activities.

Responsibility:  Department of Energy and Technology of SLU is one of project partners. Our research team is responsible for Value Chain  management, environmental (LCA) and Life cycle cost (LCCA) analyses. Objective of this WP is to analyse the value chain management of selected organic products whilst assessing the environmental efficiency and economic efficiency, and  to develop a sound database for LCA and LCCA studies.
