Floristics

The course is largely based on excursions, and much of teaching takes place in the field and consists of lectures, demonstrations and exercises in groups or individually.

The course starts with lectures and an overview of plant systematics, appearance, and the most common plant families. The course ends with a mandatory inventory task.

A significant part of the time in field devoted to species identification, but also to the knowledge of genera and families of groups of vascular plants, lichens and mosses and exercises to identify plants using identification literature. Species relevance for the nature conservation are discussed, as well as red-listed species demands on their environment.
