The equivalent of entrance requirements for acceptance onto the Diploma Programme in Agricultural and Rural Management, and the equivalent of at least 50 credits including at least- 40 credits Agricultural Science
- 10 credits Botany.
Objectives
On completion of the course students will be able to:
independently diagnose plant pests on agricultural crops
describe and justify pest control strategies for plant pests on agricultural crops
analyse and evaluate crop production measures in the field from a biological, technical, occupational, economic and environmental perspective.
Content

The lectures deal with
production biology of agricultural crops
biology and ecology of pests of agricultural crops
control strategies and preventive measures for pests
forecasting models for plant pests
effects of pests and pest control measures on product quality
the plant as a habitat for pests
potential of plant breeding to alter cultivated plant material
sustainable cultivation systems for control of plant pests
Exercises and laboratory practicals will deal with plant anatomy, plant physiology and pests of agricultural crops.
Grading form
The grade requirements within the course grading system are set out in specific criteria. These criteria must be available by the course start at the latest.Formats and requirements for examination
Pass grade in examination. Approved oral an written reporting of individual project work and reporting of project work. Participation in compulsory parts of the course.
- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
- For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
