The course aims at providing basic knowledge in financial management.
On completion of the course the student should be able to:
in general terms describe annual accounts and basic accounting,
in general terms describe budgeting and basic cost-, contribution- and capital calculations for smaller companies in especially the animal industry,
use computer worksheets and accounting programs as support in managerial accounting in smaller companies in especially the animal industry.

The basics of financial control in animal business is introduced at lectures and in exercises. Case studies are used to illustrate and practise knowledge in finanical control. Some activities are compulsory. General competences related to opposition are practiced.
Grading form
The grade requirements within the course grading system are set out in specific criteria. These criteria must be available by the course start at the latest.Formats and requirements for examination
Passed exam and passed assignments.
Participation in compulsory components.
- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
- For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.

• Exams: At least three retake sessions (renewed exams) must be offered within two years of the decision to cancel the course. • Compulsory elements: At least one opportunity for a retake session must be offered within two years of the decision to cancel the course.Other information

- Redogöra för grundläggande ekonomistyrningsteori, inklusive affärshändelser, årsbokslut och grundläggande redovisning.
- Genomföra enklare kostnads-, bidrags- och investeringskalkyler för mindre företag, speciellt inom djurbranschen.
- Använda för ekonomistyrning relevanta hjälpmedel såsom datorkalkylblad och redovisningsprogram.
- Redovisa projekt- och inlämningsuppgifter i såväl tal som skrift.
För godkänt (4) ska du:
- Redogöra för och diskutera grundläggande ekonomistyrningsteori, inklusive affärshändelser, årsbokslut och grundläggande redovisning.
- Genomföra enklare kostnads-, bidrags- och investeringskalkyler för mindre företag, speciellt inom djurbranschen.

- Visa på allmän självständighet under såväl praktiska som teoretiska moment.
