Business management in forest and landscape

*Subject matter:

*This is a basic course in business administration aimed at entrepreneurship within forest and landscape management. The course includes the following subjects: organisation and leadership, strategic issues, marketing, business planning and sustainable development. It is based on different cases where these aspects are treated – a small company (landowner, entrepreneur), a larger company in forestry or landscape management, and a non-profit organisation (government authority, non-governmental organisation, politically governed organisations). The course also contains forest economy, where for instance effects on a forest stand of business factors and decisions are studied. It is divided into four modules, where concepts and methods are successively treated:



  • The small company

  • Forest economy

  • The large company

  • The non-profit organisation

***The course consists of different forms of education to favour learning and discussions: Lectures, literature studies, exercises, seminars, study visits and oral and written reports.


The course focuses on the following generic competences: Critical thinking, problem solving, use of techniques, oral and written communication, cooperation, time planning.


These elements are mandatory: Exercises, seminars, study visits, oral presentations.
