Sara Hägglund

Sara Hägglund
Sara Hägglund holds a DVM and a PhD in ruminant medicine from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU, where she also currently works in research and education.

Presentation

Sara Hägglund administers courses and teach within ruminant medicine in the veterinary curriculum. She is docent in Veterinary
Medicine with focus on ruminant infection and immunity. Her research focused on viral diseases in ruminants for the development of effective control measures. She worked in the field and in experimental settings, with virus epidemiology, immunology and pathogenesis, as well as with vaccine development and evaluation.

As member of the Host Pathogen Interaction Group at SLU, she supervised undergraduate and graduate students and worked in international and national projects on BRSV, BTV, IVD and FMDV. She coordinated an Emida Era Net project on BRSV DIVA vaccines and acted as expert on BRSV in DISCONTOOLS. Present projects target BRSV and IVD pathogenesis, BRSV transmission, as well as FMDV persistence.
