Gait study Icelandic horses

Last changed: 20 February 2015

We are now looking for Icelandic horses for a study about pace. We are interested in horses with two-five gaited parents, but where the horse itself show no predisposition for pace.

It would be good if you have tried to pace the horse, but that it did not work. If you are interested in participating in the study, send an e-mail to horseDNA@slu.se, with information about the horse. We will then send you a questionnaire by e-mail.

If we think your horse fits for the study we would like you to take a hair sample from the horse, and it will be tested for DMRT3.

Depending on the results we might be interested in having additional samples from your horse. When the study is finished you will get to know the genpotype result from your horse. All genotype information that is being used in the study will be treated anonymous.
