Välkommen till året Växtkompositionskurs!
Hej alla! Nu ligger schemat för årets växtkompositionskurs ute! Som kanske många av er vet så är jag kursens nya kursledare ( Mona Wembling). Jag började en anställning här på SLU i mitten av augusti i år. Det känns superkul att få hålla i just den här kursen! Som ni kan se i schemat så har jag försökt lägga så många undervisningsmoment som möjligt på campus, vilket jag tänker är otroligt viktigt eftersom era senaste kurser varit helt och hållet baserade på zoom. Nu får vi hålla tummarna att det går att genomföra enligt plan och att vi slipper en fortsatt ökning av covid 19 under hösten, som i sin tur skulle kunna innebära en återgång till enbart zoomundervisning. Det är viktigt, när vi träffas på campus, att vi för vår allas skull respekterar de rekommendationer som folkhälsomyndigheten ger. The course aims to deepen the compositional basis of the vegetation configuration with the emphasis on the park and garden context. On the basis of previously acquired knowledge of the characteristics of the plant material and its development under different conditions, the course aims to provide training in composing well functioning plantations with varying character and for different purposes.
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
describe and provide examples of a number of Swedish and international models that are characterised by a high level of quality as regards plant composition and form concepts
describe the suitability of different plants as compositional material in different situations with respect to spatiality, site, maintenance ambitions and function
device an accurate planting plan with associated plant list.
In addition, on completion of the course students will have practised their ability to:
design and compose well functioning plantations/environments that take account of the varying conditions of different planting sites as regards spatiality, site, maintenance ambitions and function
design/compose character-strong environments, which mainly consist of plants, that are permeated from the great design-related and spatial entirety down to the smallest detail by an abstract idea/a concept.
Content
The course comprises studies and skills training in:
the ability of individual plants to function as architectonic elements, reinforcing their nature
the use and significance of plants in modern landscape architecture as well as on historical sites
functional and aesthetic aspects of the structure of plantation
the mutual interplay between planting proposals and the goals formulated about desired features and creative vision
account of site plan with a description of expected characters and planting schedule including plants register.

Participation in compulsory seminars and trips and approved assignment work.
- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
- For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
Other information
The right to participate in teaching and/or supervision only applies for the course instance the student was admitted to and registered on.
