Experimental student project in landscape architecture
The course starts with lectures, readings and seminars about theories and methods of project and team work.
Emphasis is on using investigative and experimental methods. The projects deal with ideas, concepts, human interaction, space, structures, content, small scale or large scale in landscape architecture and must have a real site as a starting point. The end product may be full scale temporary landscape architecture, exhibitions, posters, models, films or reports.
Examples of projects are a landscape architecture competition, a design or planning task, temporary landscape architecture or installations. Projects or themes can be suggested by teachers if possible, but should be proposed and must be decided by the students.
Examination and assessment is based on the project plan which aims to train a professional approach to the task. Seminars and activities connected to them are compulsory.
Information from the course leader
Welcome to this years course with the overall theme Distance in Pandemic Landscape Architecture - how can we as landscape architects organize and design corona safe spaces. This theme will of course be elaborated by you making your own group projects, and you do not need to have a specific thought on this before the course starts.
Please do your registration already today and before the course starts (or opposite if you have changed your mind), so that we can plan the course and groups in the best way (and that others waiting for a place in the course can get it from course start).
You will find more information about the course and a preliminary detailed schedule under schema/schedule to the right on the webpage, and as soon as you have registered to the course you can also reach more information about the different explorations and as well reach the extracts of texts put on Canvas.
We start with a presentation of ourselves (tell me about your name, where it comes from), an informative introduction about the course and the first exploration (I). You will also listen to a lecture about a project from one of your teachers.
Don't forget to buy the course book (and start reading). You might as well prepare yourself with some tools and material for sketching and model making like scalpel, steel ruler, cutting carpet, sketching paper, glue of different kinds ('glue pistol' and/or Scotch gel), pens, charcoal, cardboard and any other left over material that can be good for sketchy model making.
We look forward to meet and work with you during the following months.
See you at 13.00 Monday 18 January 2021.
