Welcome to the course Macroeconomic Theory, 7.5 hp!
This course is a collaboration with Uppsala University. All teaching and examination will be held at Uppsala University. You will find more updated information about the course if you click on the link below. Registration at SLU: Register for the course at SLU in Ladok Student. Registration is open 12 – 26 October 2020. If there is a problem, please contact the administration at SLU ekon-adm@slu.se. We will send a registration list to Uppsala University before the start of the course. This will allow you to create an account at Uppsala University and give you access to the Student Portal at Uppsala University, where you can find course material etc. You also need a student account in order to sign up for exams in Uppsala University’s Ladok. If you have any questions regarding the course, please contact studentadmin@nek.uu.se You must be admitted and registered to attend the course. Unregistered students may NOT stay on the premises, for reasons of insurance. If you have been admitted to the course with conditions, you cannot register online and must contact ekon-adm@slu.se who will determine if you can still register. Only registered students can participate in the course. If you cancel the course, you should immediately notify the course leader or ekon-adm@slu.se via email.

Language
EnglishPrior knowledge
Knowledge equivalent to English B from upper secondary school is required as from the academic year 2009/10.Knowledge equivalent to 180 credits, of which 90 credits in Economics.
Knowledge equivalent to English A from upper secondary school.
Objectives
After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to conduct advanced and independent analyses of important real world macroeconomic issues.
Content
The course covers six major areas, namely (i) economic growth, (ii) business cycles, (iii) consumption, (iv) investment, (v) unemployment, and (vi) macroeconomic policy. Questions addressed include the following: Why are some countries richer than others? What determines unemployment in the short run and in the long run? How can monetary and fiscal policy affect economic fluctuations?
Grading form
The grade requirements within the course grading system are set out in specific criteria. These criteria must be available by the course start at the latest.Formats and requirements for examination
- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
- For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
Other information
The right to participate in teaching and/or supervision only applies for the course instance the student was admitted to and registered on.
