More information

The Scandinavian lynx (Lynx lynx) population in Sweden has recovered from as few as 30 individuals in the early 20th century to more than a thousand today. The population is still spreading southward, as lynx continue to recolonize southern Sweden.

Heather’s PhD focuses on this recolonization. The aims of the project are to increase our general knowledge of habitat selection, dispersal patterns, genetic structure, and establishment of large carnivores into unoccupied areas that are part of the historic distribution of the species.

Heather recently presented her 50% seminar at Grimsö Wildlife Research Station, and will give a similar presentation here. She will discuss her work so far on lynx population growth, habitat selection, and mortality risk, and will present her plans for genomic analysis.
