Pipe project fights hunger in West Pokot as women embrace simple tech

Projects within AgriFoSe2030 are contributing to improve peoples lives and livelihoods. One project, Transformation of pastoral livelihoods in Kenya, strengthens smallholder farmers so that poor smallholders can have stable access to and consume safe and nutritious food. The projects has got national attention in Kenya due to its successful results.

The newspaper Nation Africa has written an article about the project Transformation of pastoral livelihoods and the team working with it to emphasise the outcomes and the societal changes the project can accomplish.

Transformation of pastoral livelihoods in West Pokot, Kenya

The project is a collaboration between Challenge 1 and 4 in the AgriFoSe2030 programme. The aim of the project is to support livelihood transformation through:

a) local decision-maker awareness creation and policy change on the concept of food security and the local strategies for its achievement and;

b) capacity building of pastoralists and their institutions in order to improve value addition, market access, profitability of livelihood strategies and ensure food and nutrition diversity and security so that poor smallholders can have stable access to and consume safe and nutritious food.
