*The Swedish National Food Agency's official veterinarians and official assistants carry out controls in slaughterhouses and game handling establishments, according to the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2017/625 on official controls.

• Assignment for Arbetsförmedlingen in three rounds 2020-2023
• Recruitment training for academics with a foreign degree equivalent to an agronomist/horticulturalist.
• Unit for collaboration and development, Department of Plant Production Ecology and SLU Menu
• Initial professional Swedish via Academicum (two months), theoretical training at SLU (three months) and final internship at a company via the Swedish Public Employment Service (four months).
• Web-based theoretical education, entirely at a distance
• Scope 13 weeks, full time

• Assignment for Arbetsförmedlingen in three rounds 2017-2020
• Fast track for newly arrived veterinarians to become licensed animal nurses*.
• Department of Clinical Sciences, Department of Applied Animal Science and Welfare and Ortskansli Skara.
• Six months of theory at SLU followed by six months of practical training at a veterinary clinic or animal hospital, concluding with a digital knowledge test.
• Blended learning; partly at a distance and partly on site at SLU in Skara and Uppsala.
• Scope 60 credits, full time
• Basic level
• Total 62 students

SLU Meny was responsible for distance learning support in sub-courses and the design and implementation of the final digital knowledge test.

*Animal nurse is a licensed profession in Sweden where the Swedish Board of Agriculture can, upon application, grant a license to a person with an approved bachelor's degree or other equivalent qualifications. A common task for an animal nurse is to assist a veterinarian, corresponding to the relationship between a nurse and a doctor.
