Portrait of Johan Dicksved

Johan Dicksved is a professor of nutrition and metabolism of monogastric animals since 7 September 2023. His inauguration lecture has the title "Jakten efter nyckeln till hälsa i tarmens mikrobiella värld".

Johan Dicksved's research concerns the ecosystem consisting of the microorganisms in the gastrointestinal tract of monogastric animals, including humans. By investigating how different diets and nutritional supplements affect the microbial community, the intestinal environment and the body's metabolism, he tries to understand how health is affected by the composition of food, or feed. Another interest is new types of sustainable protein feeds for animals, including microbial proteins from yeast grown on waste and residual products.
