OPTAIN stands for "OPtimal strategies to retAIN and re-use water and nutrients in small agricultural catchments across different soil-climatic regions in Europe". The project focuses on measures for nutrient and water retention in small agricultural streams.

The project focuses on so called Natural/Small Water Retention Measures (NSWRMs), such as ponds and wetlands. Read more on the official website of the OPTAIN project.

The project is coordinated by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ). Martyn Futter is participating from the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment.

Facts:

OPTAIN is funded by EU through Horizon 2020 and runs 2020 to 2025.
