Long-term field experiments

Long-term field experiments - a useful resource when assessing the impact of different management practices on soil, water and crop system.

At several sites in Sweden, long-term field experiments are run by the Swedish University of Agricultural Science (SLU). They are an useful resource when assessing the impact of different management practices on soil, water and production. In some experiments, the effect of cropping systems, crop rotations and fertiliser regimes on yield and soil fertility are investigated while others focus more on making efficient use of soil resources or environmental effects of crop production and different management practices. The responsibility for individual experiments has been delegated to four departments at Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences (NJ Faculty), which in turn have appointed an experiment manager for all experiments. The work is coordinated by a Steering Group.

The long-term field experiments are a unique resource which is available to researchers within all disciplines. We welcome collaboration with other researchers using data or archived samples from these experiments, or taking new samples. Information from the experiments may also be useful for advisors and others who are interested in Swedish agriculture. Contact the subject coordinator if you would like to use the long-term experiments for your own research or have any other questions.

The long-term field experiments are funded by the Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences (NJ Faculty) at SLU, Uppsala.
