Stefan Bertilsson, professor of functional ecology of limnic systems

Stefan Bertilsson’s research targets the ecology and biogeochemistry of aquatic microorganisms in lakes and oceans as well as ground water and wetlands. His ongoing research concerns the microbial transformation and cycling of carbon and nitrogen compounds, but also the conversion of inorganic mercury into more harmful methyl mercury. Stefan Bertilsson is also the director of the Swedish Infrastructure for Ecosystem Science (SITES).
