Mentoring program 2020/21

The BECFOR research school’s mentoring program takes place from November 2020 to June 2021 and supports doctoral students and junior researchers at the SLU Forest Faculty in their personal and professional growth through networking and skills-training.

 

The mentoring program connects doctoral students and junior researchers with experienced professionals in the Swedish forest sector and research institutions.​

Agenda:

  • Nov 11, 2020. Kick-off meeting for mentors and mentees.​
  • Nov 2020 – June 2021. 5-6 self-organized meetings between mentee and mentor.​
  • Feb 17, 2021. Half-time seminar for all mentees on the theme How to Lead With Trust.
  • April 28, 2021. Final group meeting for mentees and mentors.​

Participating mentees 2020/21

  • 5 doctoral students at the SLU Forest Faculty that have completed their half-time seminar at the on-start of the mentoring program.
  • 4 junior researchers at the SLU Forest Faculty who have received their doctorate in 2018 or later.​

Objectives of mentoring program

Through the mentoring program the BECFOR research school wishes to support the careers of future professionals and leaders in the Swedish and international forest sector.​

The BECFOR mentoring program provides/supports mentees with:​

  • Wider network and contacts with professionals in the Swedish forest sector and at research institutions,​
  • Foster personal and professional development,
  • Mapping of professional skills,​
  • Help with identifying professional directions and goals,
  • Increase chances of a successful career outside and inside academia.
