SLU and the Baltic Sea Science Center

Interested in the Baltic Sea? Discover all about it at the Baltic Sea Science Center (BSSC) located at Skansen, Stockholm. SLU proudly contributes to the content of the exhibition gallery and provides the fish inhabiting the aquariums.

Learn about the Baltic Sea

At BSSC there are aquariums, interactive exhibitions and a discovery lab for students. Learn more about the Baltic Sea, its organisms and the impacts on the system from the 90 million people living around it.

Environmental challenges for students

The exhibition gallery targets high school students, and is centered around eutrophication, hazardous substances and fishing. We also invite school classes to pre-book visits and participate in thematic events.

Study water at SLU

Water is an integral part of many programs and courses at SLU. We have courses focusing on water issues from different perspectives, for example water quality, aquatic ecosystems, fish ecology, and drinking water.

The content of the exhibition gallery and the activities at the Baltic Sea Science Center are developed by Skansen and a team of experts (Kunskapsrådet) from SLU, Stockholms University, Stockholm Vatten och Avfall and the foundation Baltic Sea 2020.
