The national contact point provides independent scientific support for competent authorities, industry and organizations.
The NCPs tasks are clearly described and include assisting the industry and authorities with scientific and technical expertise. The contact point shall also communicate technical and scientific information and best practices with other Member States.
The NCP shall provide scientific opinions on manuals that are used in slaughterhouses.
The contact point is also expected to write scientific opinions on the guidelines for good practice that the slaughter industry produces regarding animal handling, fixation, stunning and bleeding.
The NCP shall assist and support the control authorities, i.e. the county administrative boards and the National Food Administration in the application of the ordinance, with regard to inspections, audits and how to set up the control work.
