IWM-CA: Integrated approaches to weed management in conservation agriculture

Last changed: 28 April 2025
A tractor drives in a field. Red buildings are visible in the background.

The project aims to develop strategies where root cutters, mainly the horizontal root cutter (Kverneland Group), are used as part of an integrated strategy to regulate the amount of perennial weeds in cropping systems with minimized tillage. Cropping system experiments are carried out at farms and at SLU's field research station at Lövsta.

Partners: Göran Bergkvist (SLU), Björn Ringselle (RISE, project manager), Per-Anders Algerbo (Rise), Josef Appell (Appell Agri Consulting AB), Philip Hedeng (Heagårds Egendom AB), Lars Olav Brandsæter (NMBU), Kirsten Tørresen (NIBIO), Marcus Willert (HIR Skåne)

Funders: Swedish farmers' foundation for agricultural research. Kverneland Group AS provides the root cutters as in-kind.
