"Haylage intolerance” in horses?
This research project aims to map feeding, management and faecal composition in horses showing symptoms of a condition known as free faecal liquid, and to compare them with horses free of these symptoms in a case-control study.
Research projects - horses
Our research focus on horse feeding and nutrition and its' relation to health, welfare and performance. As horses are adapted to a grass based diet, forage is the most important feedstuff in an equine feed ration. Therefore, forage and its role in equine feed rations is a main research area for us, including e.g. nutritive and hygienic quality, impact of different forage types on eating behaviour and digestion as well as how nutritional and management factors influence equine health.
