Aquaculture opportunities and challenges

Say 'agriculture' and everyone gets an idea of what you're talking about. But say 'aquaculture' and the associations might not be as clear. Aquaculture has great potential to grow, as more than two-thirds of our planet is covered by oceans, lakes and rivers. In addition, aquaculture can take place in tanks or power plant ponds. But aquaculture is also surrounded by many challenges, such as sustainability, contamination risks, animal welfare issues and energy supply.
