DC-kollen: forecasting crop development

Last changed: 16 May 2025

To get the best effect of mineral fertilisers and plant protection agents, it is necessary to use them at the right stage of crop development. The possibility to calculate crop development stages is also central to better interpretation of sensor and satellite data, and thereby to the development of automated forecasts of yield, protein content etc., as well as for risk forecasts for mycotoxin formation in oats. The aim of the project has been to develop and evaluate prediction models for development stages in autumn wheat, spring barley and oats.

DC-kollen was a collaborative project led by Agroväst. SLU developed and evaluated models based on open data from the Swedish Board of Agriculture and SMHI, and Dataväxt AB designed a proposal for a graphical user interface.
