General travel information for event

Official Language
The language of the conference is English.

Time zone
Sweden is in the Central European Time zone.

Climate and Clothing
It is winter in Uppsala in March and the temperatures can vary from -20 to +5°C. Please note there may be snow.

Local Currency
The Swedish monetary unit is the Swedish krona (SEK). Approximate value, Euro 1=SEK 11, USD 1=SEK 9, GBP 1=SEK 12. Major credit cards like Visa and Master Card are accepted almost everywhere, also in small businesses. Some does even prefer card payment to cash. Local and regional buses are cash free, but accept Visa and Master Card with pin code.

There are several currency exchange offices and cash dispensers at Stockholm Arlanda International Airport and in Uppsala. Exchange rates may vary. To see current exchange rates, please visit oanda.com.

Business hours & shopping
Shops are open between 10.00 and 18.00 hrs on weekdays and from 10.00 to 15.00 on Saturdays. Shops in the city center have extended opening hours, some even on Sundays between 12.00 and 16.00 hrs. Some major shops might be able to accept EUR, but in that case only bills, no coins. Exchange is returned in SEK.

Smoking policy
Sweden has a non-smoking policy, i.e. smoking is prohibited in public buildings, public transport, taxis, buses and trains. All hotel rooms are by default non-smoking.

Electricity
In Sweden the electrical voltage used is 220/230V.

Force Majeure
The organisers are not liable for any claims for damages and/or losses if the entire conference has to be cancelled due to a force majeure incident.

The organisers are not liable for damages and/or losses of any kind which may be incurred by the conference delegates or by any other individuals accompanying them, both during the official activities as well as going to/from the conference. Delegates are responsible for their own safety and belongings.

Insurance and Vaccinations
The registration fee does not cover insurance for the delegates. The organisers recommend that delegates take out insurance in their home country to cover pre-journey cancellation for personal reasons and necessary insurance to cover accidents, medical expenses and loss of personal belongings during the visit. No vaccinations are needed when visiting Sweden.

Passport and Visas
Delegates are advised to contact the nearest embassy, consulate or travel agency for information about the passport and visa requirements from their country for entry to Sweden.

Travel information for event

From Stockholm-Arlanda airport

Train

Trains leave Arlanda Central station for Uppsala Central Station several times a day. Arlanda C is reached from Sky City between terminal 4 and 5.

Journey time: 20 minutes

Both SJ and SL trains frequents the distance. Tickets can be bought at Arlanda airport, in vending machines or at desks, or in advance on-line at sj.se. The prices differ depending on day, time and operator from 190-220 SEK.

Bus

Bus 801 runs between Arlanda and central Uppsala once every hour between 1 a.m and 4 a.m, and twice every hour between 4 a.m and 1 a.m.

Journey time: 45 minutes.

Cost SEK 110-130 (approximately EUR 13).

There are vending machines at Arlanda airport terminals 2, 4 and 5 where you can buy a one way ticket for the bus. Credit card only. There is a small reduction of the price if you buy it from the vending machine in advance of the journey, compared to buying the ticket on board the bus.

You can by the ticket with Master card or Visa on the bus (Am ex and Diners are not accepted). Cash is not accepted.

("Flygbussarna"  airport coaches connects Arlanda and Stockholm city. It is not recommended to go to Stockholm to reach Uppsala from Arlanda.)

Taxi

Taxis leave from outside the arrivals hall.

Journey time: about 35 minutes

Cost: about SEK 500-600 (approx. EUR 50-60). Ask the driver for a fixed price (“fast pris”) in advance. You can pay by credit card or by cash in the taxi.
