About the Department of Molecular Sciences

The Department was formed in January 2017 from the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, The Department of Food Science and The Department of Microbiology.

We conduct research and education in the fields of chemistry, molecular biology, food science and microbiology.

In total, ca 100 PhD students, researchers and technical and administrative staff work at the Department. 

We actively collaborate with industrial partners. This has resulted in several patents and tech companies. We also have two External Collaboration Specialists at the Department, specialising in Bioenergy and Food Quality. Read more about our collaboration with society here.
