WP 5 – Business models for small-scale forest bioenergy plants in rural areas

Last changed: 25 November 2021

The basis for the transformation over to green energy is largely economic incentives, therefore will focus in Work Package 5 be on development and support for adapted and viable business models.

The goal of this project is to increase the ability of relevant public authorities, organizations for renewable energy, and energy agencies to promote the development of small-scale bioenergy projects in rural areas. In order to achieve this focus will be on development of models for small-scale forest bioenergy plants in rural areas. These plants are very valuable for a sustainable development of the bioenergy market in the BSR region. However, these projects face specific challenges including aspects of financing the investment, finding suitable business models and ensuring steady and qualitatively adequate supply of biomass feedstock.
