Protein nanofiber materials

Last changed: 01 March 2022

We aim to develop novel types of protein-based nanomaterials. These materials, which form by spontaneous self-assembly of proteins into nanofibers, can be functionalized to perform essentially any type of chemistry.

One research aim is to develop novel materials than can be used to monitor the levels of xenobiotics in our environment and to remove xenobiotics from the environment. However, the technology that we develop would be generally applicable to produce new functional materials that are biocompatible, biodegradable and produced in environmentally friendly biological processes.
