Innovative Doctoral Education for Global Food Security 2013-2014 – a Swedish Government Initiative In this programme, the 25 main activities, directed towards doctoral education for food security, have involved Swedish and African universities as well as around 30 African universities and international organisations. In total 530 doctoral students and senior staff participated in courses and workshops. The programme also included 20 scholar exchanges. 06 July 2016
The SLU Global Food Security and Research and Capacity Development Programme 2012-2014 - a Swedish Government Initiative SLU´s long-standing commitment to partnerships with low-income countries enabled the university, in this programme, to engage colleagues in 77 countries and 75 academic institutions in projects directed toward sustainable agriculture with the aim to reduce poverty and malnutrition. 06 July 2014

Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture for Food Security - Challenges and Knowledge Gaps By 2050 it is estimated that the global population will reach almost 10 billion, with the majority of that growth taking place in urban areas of less developed regions of the world. Such rapid urbanization has produced a large group of urban poor, proliferating widespread issues like food insecurity and malnutrition in low-income countries. 06 July 2016
The SLU Global Food Security and Education Programme 2010-2013 SLU has a long-standing commitment to partnerships with low income countries. In this report, the work from 24 projects directed toward sustainable agriculture with the aim to reduce poverty and malnutrition, are presented. The main part of the projects were carried out in Africa and some in central and southeast Asia. 06 July 2016
