FORWARDS

The aim of the project is to create a basis for decision-making in practical forest management on a European and regional level. The project is expected to contribute with knowledge in environmental monitoring of forests, guidance in forest management and also through consideration of societal perspectives in decision-making processes related to the forest.

FORWARDS will prototype the ForestWard Observatory, a pan-European monitoring and evaluation tool that will help in demonstrating the impact of climate change on forests, guiding decision-making for practical forest management.

Apply for grants

The grants will allow researchers who are not part of the FORWARDS consortium to contribute to the overall objectives of the project. EFI is responsible for coordinating the calls.

The FORWARDS aim is for The ForestWard Observatory to become a long-lasting legacy of the project, reconciling the current divide between forest information obtained from the ground and remote sensing.
