The Department of Soil and Environment is part of the Soil-Water-Environment cluster at SLU and belongs to both the Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences and the Faculty of Forest Sciences.
We offer courses at basic and advanced level in Soil science, Biology and Environmental science and PhD training in Soil Science.
We research soil science that is a multi-and interdisciplinary subject and covers the interaction between biological, chemical and physical processes and properties of the soil environment.
The Department of Soil and Environment carries out monitoring and assessment in agricultural landscapes and forests. We also investigate agricultural impact of eutrophication.
Field trials are conducted as a part of our applied rearch. Most of them are located to our field stations Lanna Research station outside Skara and Ekhaga outside Uppsala.
We deliver quality-assured data from environmental monitoring commissioned from the by the Environmental Protection Agency. This gives faster and better access to the latest research results.
The department is data host for data collected through the national and regional environmental monitoring programs for agricultural land. The mission for a data host is to store, quality assure and make data available. Certain compilation of data is also included.
At the Department we also work with environmental monitoring and assessment, both within Agricultural lands and within other programs.
