Measurement methods

Since nature impacts people's feelings, mood, physiological reactions, thoughts and behaviours, there are many opportunities to measure health effects, but also major challenges.

What are we able to measure and how?

Human life is characterised by dynamic processes and biological rhythms. When we are active in the day, we are stimulated and engaged, but we also become tired after a while. Long-term good health is characterised by a dynamic in which we are constantly switching between activity/animation and relaxation/recovery. It is therefore difficult to find a single measurement method that identifies health and well-being.

Methods

Below you find summaries of various methods that can be used to measure health effects in connection with e.g. stay in nature, nature activities, nature and animal-based interventions, etc.
