Micronutrients

Last changed: 09 December 2022

Micronutrients are essential to crops and the elements have multiple functions in plants. A deficiency of any of these elements can result in a decreased yield, but also in a poorer quality of the harvest product when it is utilized as feed, food or in seed production.

Research is made to increase the possibility to identify and quantify possible deficiencies in Swedish crop production, in particular for cereals. Micronutrients most often exist in large quantities in arable soils, but the crop available amount can be severely limited. More knowledge in how different soil- and management factors influence availability and uptake of these elements in crop are therefore of importance.
