The Department of Soil and Environment is part of the Soil-Water-Environment cluster at SLU and belongs to both the Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences and the Faculty of Forest Sciences.
We offer courses at basic and advanced level in Soil science, Biology and Environmental science and PhD training in Soil Science.
We research soil science that is a multi-and interdisciplinary subject and covers the interaction between biological, chemical and physical processes and properties of the soil environment.
The Department of Soil and Environment carries out monitoring and assessment in agricultural landscapes and forests. We also investigate agricultural impact of eutrophication.
Field trials are conducted as a part of our applied rearch. Most of them are located to our field stations Lanna Research station outside Skara and Ekhaga outside Uppsala.
The Board of post-graduate education at the Department of Soil and Environment handle matters related to PhD training at the Department.
These matters include preparation for admission of PhD students, follow-up of individual study plans and organizing of PhD seminars. In addition, the Board approves of PhD course curricula.
