Rodent & Disease Ecology Group

Welcome to the website of the Rodent & Disease Ecology Group, led by senior lecturer Frauke Ecke of the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental studies, SLU, Umeå.

We are interested in the ecology and disease ecology of small mammals. Our work covers monitoring, assessment and research in different biomes and in natural as well as anthropogenic settings. We combine disciplines including population, landscape, behaviour and movement ecology with virology, molecular biology, epidemiology, ecotoxicology and social sciences to understand spatio-temporal changes in the dynamics of small mammals, their predators and zoonoses as well as of zoonotic outbreaks in humans.
