Portrait of Anders Kivijärvi.

Anders' interest in forestry led him to apply for the forester program. During his education, his interest in biology grew more and more and now he is doing his Master's thesis on trout migration behavior.

Tell us a bit about yourself!

My name is Anders Kivijärvi and I'm from Luleå. My interests are downhill skiing and fishing. I applied to the forester program (Jägmästarprogrammet) because of my interest for forest management. But as time went by the biological side grew on me and now I'm doing my master at the Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies department.

What is your Master's thesis about?

My Master’s thesis is about mapping migrational behaviour of Trout (Salmo trutta) in the upper parts of Vindelälven.

Why did you choose that topic?

It's important, particularly since it gives knowledge which can be interprent in management but also to give a better understanding on how other business can affect the population, i.e a dam can act as a blockade and prevent reproduction.
