Do you want to learn about forest animals, their origin, biology and distribution patterns? Then this is the course for you!

 

In this course you will study the biology of Swedish animal species and their physiological adaptations, evolution, behaviour and distribution patterns.

You will learn to identify species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insect schemes and the tracks of wood insects in Swedish forest.

The course gives you basic zoological knowledge with focus on the animal species in Swedish forests. You will also learn about taxonomic classification, classification, phylogeny, systematics and biogeography in animal species.

Given as an evening course

This is an evening course in Umeå at 33 % speed during January-April with lectures and exercises 3-4 hours during one or two evenings per week.

  • Students attending another full-time course can attend this evening course.
  • The course is open to all qualified students.
  • The schedule is adapted for students at the Forest Science Programme or the master programme in Biology in the Management of Fish and Wildlife Populations.
