Careers outside academia one-day seminar

Have you ever asked yourself what possibilities you, as a PhD, have in the labour market outside of the university? Do you want to improve your chances of finding your dream job? Then join our one-day seminar on Friday the 10th of November 2023 hosted by all the NJ-faculty research schools, to get different perspectives on career choices, finding your “dream job”, self-employment possibilities, prospects and possibilities in the current labour market, etc.

Workshop on oral research presentation

The purpose of the workshop is to build a fundament for further development of your oral presentation skills and your ability to give constructive feedback.
This workshop welcomes PhD-students at the NJ and S faculties who want to improve their presentation skills before presenting at conferences, seminars and meetings in the research community.
Workshop design:
After reading material on presentation theories and methods, you will prepare a short presentation about your research before the workshop. At the workshop, you will give your talk, and get and give constructive feedback.
The workshop is limited to ten participants, the participants will be registered in the order they apply.

We will meet on a three hour afternoon session IRL in Ultuna.

Thesis summary writing workshop

The aim of the workshop is to give insights and inspiration on how to write a thesis summary. The topics covered are legal issues concerning the thesis summary writing process, writing inspiration, and discussions on “best practices” for writing a thesis summary.

The workshop is jointly organized by The NJ-faculty Research Schools Focus on Soils and Water, Ecology – basics and applications, Organism Biology, Society and Landscape, Sustainable Systems for Food, Energy and Biomaterials, and is open for all PhD students at SLU.

2022-12-05. How to become a postdoc. Welcome to the workshop: ‘How to become a post doc” that we are organizing in collaboration with several research schools at SLU. Full day, incl. presentations from funders in Sweden (VR & Formas), a session on writing applications, and opportunities to interact with and learn from other postdocs. HT 2022 SLU webinar series: ”Zoom in on research data management” 
Webinar series about good research data management practices. The webinars were recorded and are now available in SLU Play here: Workshops and webinars.

The series is arranged by Data Management Support (DMS) together with SLU archivists and legal counsel. DMS is a unit at the SLU University library that assists SLU staff and students with managing scientific data.
