Data for estimation and modelling of forest resources
Time for lectures: 3-days lectures 4 hours per day
Exercise handling data: 1-day introduction/exercises, 5-days own project work, 1-day presenting data.
The course first part will include lectures and teacher-led exercises where basic knowledge about how environmental data are collected, stored and analyzed will be given. The lectures will cover following topics: overview of environmental monitoring, database structure, use of data for reporting, modelling, etc. The participants will train on handling, analysing and presenting analyses results based on environmental data in exercises and by completing a project that will take approximately one week to finish.

To be eligible, students need to be a registered PhD student in the field of forest management, technology, ecology or related field.Mål
The aim of the course is to provide PhD students with knowledge of different types of available environmental monitoring data and how these could be used in research and for environmental monitoring. Learning outcomes After completing the course, the students should: • Be familiar with data used within national and regional environmental monitoring e.g. the Swedish NFI, NILS, Swedish Forest Soil Inventory, etc. • Understand how sample-based data are assessed and how they can be used for different type of analyses • Understand how wall-to-wall maps are produced and how they can be used for different types of analyses.Innehåll
