Kajsa Svensson is a PhD student in the project: Plant breeding for increased seed yield in red clover.

What are you doing in the project?

I investigate different factors that affects the seed yield in red clover. Right now, I am analyzing how important short- and long-tongued bees are for the seed yield.

Why is the project important?

Red clover is an important crop used for animal fodder, but a problem in red clover production is low seed yield. It is not fully understood what limits the seed yield, and more knowledge is needed to be able to tackle the problem.

What did you do before you started your PhD?

I studied a Master in Biology at Lund University and after that worked as a lab and field assistant for two and a half years before I started my PhD.

Tell about one of your best moment or experience during your PhD studies thus far!

It is hard to mention one specific moment, but I think in general all the things I have learned, the new people I have met and how I have developed as a person are the best experiences. When I have (hopefully) finished my first manuscript, I think that will be one of the best experiences as well!
