W2: Accessibility – Same learning outcomes, but different paths to get there? Improving accessibility for all students

Interest in teaching accessibly is growing as more students need extra pedagogical support in our programs. Welcome to a workshop where we explore diverse ways to reach course learning outcomes. With: Alexandra D’Urso

W3: Bystander training  … Don’t just stand there, training workshop
W3: Bystander training ... Stå inte bara där, utbildningsworkshop

Many will recognize the uncomfortable feeling that arises when we notice inappropriate behavior, but don’t know what to do about it. In this workshop, we practice being an active bystander, learning how we can intervene in a safe and effective way. We are all responsible for preventing harassment and inequality at our workplace. With: Johanna Bergman Lodin, Alejandra Figueredo and Emily Montgomerie. (15:00–17:00)

W4: Art in academia – Curious about the role of art in academia and societal change

We test how to use artistic methods to investigate and push for change in pressing issues. After a short input from us, you receive material to work with on site and in groups. We then discuss our experiences together. We who invite to this serious play, come from landscape architecture and environmental communication. With: Hanna Bergeå, Sofie Joosse, Sofia Sandqvist och Carola Wingren.

Workshop Sessions Thursday May 16

Thursday / Torsdag May 16

T1: Publications that matter? A workshop on scientific publications
T1: Publikationer som spelar roll? En workshop om vetenskapliga publikationer

Welcome to a session on scientific publications! The session is divided into two parts. First, a panel-discussion where some of the department’s professors bring their insights and experiences on scientific publication. Second, a workshop where the participants will discuss previous and future publication choices. With: Erik Hysing, Helena Nordh, Jonathan Rigg.

T2: AI teaching policy – What is it and what can we do with it?

In this workshop we will explore current use of AI in teaching and discuss the need for and implementation of AI teaching policies including questions like: How might an AI policy impact existing learning activities? How can it be used to develop new ones? Which new tasks would it require for teachers? With: Camilo Calderon, Malte Rödl och Alejandra Figueredo

T3: Drawing landscapes
T3: Att teckna landskap

An outdoor activity where participants bring pencil and paper, get some tips and then draw for a while. We discuss what we have done and talk about why drawing and sketching brings new values and perspectives. With: Tomas Eriksson.

Instructions: There are lots of different pens and paper to use when drawing, but we´ll start simple.

  • For this occasion you bring 1-2 pencils of different hardness e.g H/HB and 3B/4B, as well as pencil sharpener or pencil knife.
  • Also bring a drawing pad or sketch-book in format A5-A4 (perhaps A3 or square format). The hard cover provides support when drawing. This is enough this time as I don´t intend to talk about color but instead things like motif selection, line-shadow drawing, depth, perspective etc.
  • Also, don´t forget something to sit on, a seat pad of some kind. It´s cold on the ground.
  • The focus of the exercise is to see, experience and draw something characteristic in the landscape. Drawing takes some time and it requires concentration and presence, which I mean is an important point of drawing. It´s something else than picking up your mobile phone and taking a photo.

T4: Sustainability day – Develop an annual day for environmental sustainability @ SOL

Help realize an annually recurring, joint thematic day for researchers, teachers and students at SoL. Focus is on the environmental sustainability issues we encounter in our professions and research and what we offer. Come along and offer your ideas in a snappy format! With: Lisa Åhrgren and Emma Butler (From the Transition Team.)

T5: Dialogue in landscapes – highlighting perspectives about a place and its values

Come and try and help us develop the CNV toolkit for outdoor dialogue (Swedish version). For anyone who wants to contribute to conversations that strengthen the relationship with a place and provide space for different ideas and perspectives - on site in the landscape. With: Eva Sandberg.
